”Light attracts. Where a lantern is placed, those who seek light gather around.”
The above quote comes from the Previous Rebbe- Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch. His words don’t apply only to lanterns, but to people, also. As Chassidic philosophy famously teaches, just a little light can dispell a whole room full of darkness, and this continuing metaphor of light isn’t unintentional. It tells us that Chassidim should be like lights; illuminating the way and defeating the forces of darkness. Through doing this, we can attract those who seek wisdom, knowledge and understanding; we can light up their lives, and we can make a difference to them.
This week, let’s remember the words of the previous Rebbe, and vow to bring light to the world.
