Tonight (and tomorrow) we celebrate the festival of Yud Tes Kislev! The holiday marks the Alter Rebbe’s release from prison, and is the new year of Chassidus! Just as we mark Rosh Hashanah with inspiration and celebration, we do the same on Yud Tes Kislev, and greet each other with the phrase ”May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year in the study of Chassidus and the ways of Chassidus”.
Yesterday I had the honour of hearing a wonderful sermon about the power of studying Chitas (Chumash, Tanya and Tehillim). I already study Chitas, and have been learning Tanya since around Peysekh, but really there’s no better time to begin than now. Today. This minute. In honour of Yud Tes Kislev. The Tanya cycle is beginning anew, and although Tanya study can be very challenging, I can say without a doubt that it is massively important and rewarding.
GOOD YOM TOV.
MAY YOU BE INSCRIBED AND SEALED
FOR A GOOD YEAR IN THE STUDY OF CHASSIDUS
AND THE WAYS OF CHASSIDUS.
